"Waiting for Orestes"

The text of "Electra Waiting for Orestes" was inspired by a scene of about one hundred verses from the tragedy "Electra" by Sophocles. The play was born precisely from this scene - from what the author discovered and heard in it. In this excerpt, Electra and Clytemnestra engage in a fierce verbal confrontation, hurling the worst accusations and insults at each other. Their argument is about the slain Agamemnon. Each of them has its own version of what happened - two points of view that are completely irreconcilable. However, both are deeply connected to their own perspective and inextricably marked by their personal traumas.

The Stoyan Bachvarov Drama Theatre was founded in 1921 and is the oldest professional theatre in Varna. It has a Main Stage, Branch Stage, and Chamber Hall.
