Co-production with Parma OperArt. In 2026 we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the opera Turandot. Puccini's masterpiece, his last work, premiered in 1926 at Milan's La Scala and has been an integral part of the repertoire of opera houses around the world ever since. On two consecutive evenings - on July 22 and 23, the spectators of Opera in the Summer Theater - Varna 2026 will enjoy "Turandot", presented in a fascinating production with star casts. Conducted by Jacopo Cipari di Pescaseroli, holder of the title Ambassador of Puccini, in both performances the composer's music will come to life with its unique emotional power. In the performance on July 23, the main role will be performed by the star of the Bulgarian opera scene - the soprano Gabriela Georgieva. Leading soloist of the Sofia National Opera, Georgieva also sings on prestigious world stages such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Termi di Caracalla in Rome, the Vienna State Opera, etc. The role of Turandot is among the crowning roles of the singer, known for her talent for pinpointing musical details. Gabriela Georgieva will be partnered by brilliant Varna soloists - the tenor Valery Georgiev as Kalaf and the magnetic soprano Ilina Mihailova as Liu.
The Palace of Culture and Sports - Varna (DKS) is the largest multifunctional hall in Northern Bulgaria with a capacity of up to 10,000 seats. Built in 1968 on Primorski Boulevard, the complex hosts international concerts, sporting events, show performances, and corporate events. World stars such as Placido Domingo, Dire Straits Experience, Lord of the Dance, and many others have performed here. DKS is a symbol of the cultural life of Varna and an iconic building in the architectural landscape of the city.
