Don Carlos Premiere
About this event
The XVII edition of Opera in the Summer Theater opens with the monumental opera "Don Carlos" by Giuseppe Verdi, inspired by historical events and Schiller's drama, one of the largest works in the opera repertoire. The production by director Nina Naydenova unfolds the dramatic clash between power, duty and personal feelings in a highly affecting stage environment, and under the conductorship of maestro Grigor Palikarov, Verdi's music sounds with all its emotional power and scope. With the performance, the Varna State Opera celebrates 25 years on stage of the distinguished bassist Deyan Vachkov. The soloists also include Valery Georgiev, Svilen Nikolov, Ioana Zhelezcheva and Maria Radoeva, who recreate the complex human destinies with vocal mastery and dramatic conviction, turning the show into an impressive start to the festival summer.
