About this event

ART GALLERY LE PAPILLON presents "SUMMER VACATION" painting exhibition of the Art Naive Bulgaria Association from August 19 to September 9, 2026 From August 19 to September 9, 2026, Art Gallery Le Petit Papillon is on a kind of "Summer Vacation", charged with the cheerful mood and positive emotions of the works of eleven of the authors of the Art Naive Bulgaria Association. Summer brings a feeling of freedom, light and carefree. It is a time when the days are longer, the colors are brighter, and the memories turn into stories that we keep for a long time. The "Summer Vacation" exhibition recreates precisely this atmosphere through the sincerity and immediacy of naïve art. Summer here is not just a season, but a cultural and emotional image related to ideas of freedom, sharing and harmony with nature. Summer moments become a diary of happiness - told with bright colors, pure emotions and an unadulterated creative look. Summer Vacation invites the viewer to rediscover the beauty of the ordinary world through the lens of naïve art. The exhibition emphasizes the ability of this artistic language to preserve human sensibility, to build an emotional connection with the audience and to remind that the true value of art lies in its sincerity, vitality and impermanent humanity. Naivism occupies a special place in the history of art with its independence from academic artistic canons. He builds his own visual language based on a bright color palette, conditional space, decorativeness and narrative. It is these features that give the works a sense of authenticity and preserve the immediate view of the world in which the real and the imaginary exist in a natural unity. "Summer vacation" is an invitation to remember the simple joys - the scent of summer, the warmth of the sun, the carefree days and the good mood that warms us. It is an encounter with art that does not seek perfection, but touches with its sincerity, kindness and ability to return us to a child's sense of the world. The exhibition brings together works in which the fictional landscape, stylized elements brought to symbols, dreaming, home comfort, festivity, nature and human presence become carriers of memory, identity and value. Summer is unfolded as a space of meeting, movement and contemplation, and everyday plots acquire a universal resonance through their sincerity and symbolic saturation. The naive style is distinguished by lightness, bright colors, a child's view of the world, unencumbered by academic rules. Naiveism is a kind of celebration of life, a delight for the senses that we need as fine art therapy. The world is spinning, but humanity is moved by the same things: love, happiness, delight, rapture, curiosity... Naive works are filled with what is sometimes lacking in most other fields: an unadulterated good-natured mood. Without being influenced by the traditions of art, these artists rely on their personal experience and paint pictures that reflect their memories, desires and dreams. The themes they choose are often related to childhood, the place they were born, the environment they grew up in, daily routines and festive occasions, but they also cover political, historical and social issues or fantastical, utopian worlds. In this way, naive artists are distinguished by original and unique stylistic independence. For the current exhibition, the works of eleven artists, members of the Art Naive Bulgaria Association and some of whom Art Gallery Papillon has presented over the years in group exhibitions, have been selected, while others are about to make their debut in the artistic space. Included are works by Bilyana Poinarova, Galya Romova, Gergana Burdarova, Elisaveta Angelova, Zvezdelina Todorova, Ivaylo Georgiev, Milena Atanasova, Svetlozar Stoyanov – Svesto, Stella Stefanova, Stoyan Bozhkilov, Yana Ilieva. The exhibition can be seen from August 19 to September 9, 2026 in the Art Gallery Le Petit Papillon exhibition hall in Varna, Dragoman St. 12, and can also be viewed on the website artpapillon.com or fb: Le Papillon Art Gallery.
