VIII Shared games on Vitosha – types of sports for children at risk For the eighth consecutive year, the Shared Games will show that the mountain is for everyone and together we can be more tolerant and committed to people with special needs and their problems in modern society. On July 4, Saturday, “Sofia – European Capital of Sports", National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski", Association "Parakids" and the Directorate of Nature Park “Vitosha“ organize a unique sports festival at Iglikina Polyana. In it, mainly disadvantaged children will receive guidance and the opportunity to play sports, supported by students of their own age. The event aims at socialization and integration of people with special needs through shared games in a natural environment to the possibilities of an active lifestyle through sports. For nearly two decades now, the process of presentation and approval of the specialized center “Iglikina Polyana” in PP “Vitosha“ for sports in the mountains and the favorable factors for the impact of the environment on the body. Built in 2004 by the Directorate of Nature Park “Vitosha” sports and information alley for people with disabilities of the locomotor apparatus in the area of Iglikina Polyana has become a very visited and preferred place for recreation. The “Shared Games“ on Iglikina Polyana will once again include competitions in 13 types of sports, games and quizzes in which people with special needs will take part. Sports Club “Vertical World“ and Association “Parakids“. The goal is to naturally involve disadvantaged people in active activities through sports. Along with this - to familiarize the children in the individual sports activities with the possibilities and specifics in the types of sports in the activities of people who need help and assistance. For the fifth year in a row, taekwondo players from the Central Police Club will join the participants with demonstrations, with the aim of introducing the disadvantaged to the sport. Students from the Secondary Special School for Hearing Impaired Children are also expected. The donation campaign of the DPP "Vitosha" “Vitosha – accessible to all“, was launched in November 2017 with the support of Raiffeisenbank under the motto “Choose to help!“. In 2018 were collected BGN 21,000, which served for the restoration of the existing and construction of new facilities at Iglikina Polyana for people with specific needs. Among the donors is the “Sofia - European Capital of Sports” Foundation. - initiator of “Shared Games”, supported the campaign and renovated the road to Iglikina Polyana for easier and safer access.
