Painting exhibition Velin Dinev from June 10 to July 7

From June 10 to July 7, 2026, the "happy thoughts" of the famous artist Velin Dinev fill the space of Art Gallery Le Petit Papillon. It is with great pleasure that we welcome the first solo exhibition in Varna of the author, who was awarded the "Dobri Chintulov" Award for 2025, with a selection of paintings created in the last two years. For more than 50 years, Velin Dinev has been present in the cultural life of Bulgaria and the world with numerous solo exhibitions in our country and throughout Europe, and his paintings are owned by collectors from all continents. "Happy thoughts" by Velin Dinev take over the space of the hall, but also the perceptions of the viewer with the extremely strong energy of an explosion of bright colors in bold, colorful, contrasting, abstract compositions. The colorful thoughts of Velin, whose talent was cultivated over the years in the city of Sliven, which formed a number of emblematic artists for Bulgaria, pour out like a stormy river of emotionality, curl like an asma shoot and create an impressiveness like centuries-old trees. Velin Dinev is not only influenced by the warmth of southern Bulgaria, by the picturesque shadows of the Blue Rocks and Karandila, but also by the color and stylization of Bulgarian folklore, which he explores in detail, creating cycles inspired by the Bulgarian apron. He works tirelessly every day with a love of composing with color of expressive color harmonies, but also with an affinity for experimentation that betrays his youthful spirit. Probably, his spacious studio influences the approach in recreating the landscape from a bird's eye view. From the high detail of the human being is summarized in the great. The view from above prompts him to work on a scale of defiantly large formats for his fragile figure. And don't we feel elevated when we are on high, and aren't happy thoughts the natural state that the spirit reaches when it moves away from the ugly and passes life's trials, like after conquering a mountain peak? Extremely bold, even impossible for traditional perceptions, color combinations in the artist's painting not only convey "happy thoughts", but fill the space with music, the rhythm of which is palpable, almost physical.
