"Aida"
About this event
"Aida" - Verdi's most spectacular masterpiece, won the love of the public with its monumental paintings, transforming the themes of the struggle for independence, the quest for freedom, the willingness to sacrifice and the power of love, leading to the composer's entire work. The expressive melodiousness and psychologism of Aida's arias and the solemn magnificence of the marches in the choral parts sealed Verdi's music in the hearts of generations of admirers of the operatic art. The history of Aida productions in Varna is connected with the Summer Theater - in 1957, it was this opera that was the first performance that consecrated it and with which the first Bulgarian festival was restored after the wars, now under the name International Music Festival "Varna Summer". The plot tells about the strong feelings shared by the Ethiopian princess, enslaved in Egypt - Aida, and the Egyptian warlord Radames. The two warring parties are on the brink of war, and on the front, in addition to spears, the destinies of two lovers are crossed. The desire for power of the Egyptian pharaoh and the jealousy of his daughter Amneris towards Radames, draw a hard fate for the young warrior. But the love between him and Aida is so strong that it crosses all boundaries, even that between life and death.
