About this event

From June 19 to July 14, 2026, Le Papillon Art Gallery presents the sculptures of Georgi Milenov and the paintings of Natalia Abaeva. Two authors who have established themselves over the years as a successful tandem not only in life, but also in art through their joint performances. Simultaneously complementary in their pursuits as creators with a close worldview, each of them has a bright own radiance in the field in which they express themselves. The relief, ethereal, barely hinted forms in Natalia Abaeva's painting and the artistic, modern sculptures of Georgi Milenov, although stylistically different, sound together like "Two voices in images". The exhibition is a real experience for the senses, combining two approaches from different means of expression. Georgi Milenov's three-dimensional sculptural "images" seemingly break, round and soften the space through their shapes and volumes. They easily make the viewer curious and empathetic, and the warmth and softness that radiates from his ceramics shortens the distance between the viewer and the work. Nataliya Abayeva's picturesque canvases excite the imagination with an unobtrusive lightness, which, however, in a very definite way grabs the attention and pulls you into a world of colorful meditation and hidden images built from finely applied strokes. The artistic ceramics of Georgi Milenov is expressed in a modern vision, where classical practices are combined with precise technologies and a modern creative solution. The plasticity of his figures carries the spirit of freedom of expression, whether the form has a rougher and incised structure, with an inscribed drawing or a smoothly sculpted delicate surface. The present exhibition presents sculptures from several emblematic cycles for the author. Different emotional states are felt in the soft forms of the works from the "Longing" series. The timeless theme of the feminine is conveyed through the sense of a frozen moment of self-absorption, spiritual elevation and quiet presence. Finely polished, decided in monochronous muted or bright colors, the stylized female figures attract and hold the eye with their elegance and sense of classic style. An invariable part of every exhibition by Georgi Milenov is another theme, interpreted more than once by the author: "The man who has mounted the horse - I am making an association for a journey, for the Madarian horseman, for the Thracian horseman god," says the author. What makes Georgi Milenov create is the way of getting to know and communicating between the viewer and the work. A maelstrom of feelings and emotions that one falls into, staring at a point in space. Unraveling the puzzle of shapes and volumes, he seems to fall into a deep reflection with his art so far. It is this deeply personal, intimate experience that gives immeasurable pleasure and makes us feel equally empathetic as viewers. Nataliya Abaeva develops the topics that excite her through various artistic approaches. The present exhibition includes the characteristic of her painting, pointillist works, in which she constructs flickering images with multiple relief strokes of the brush. The silhouettes emerge from the disconnected vague outlines and build a mental bridge to the viewer's consciousness. In Natalia's work, everything is fragmented, many small elements lead to a common whole. The artist successfully uses this skill in her original landscapes, made up of colorful stylized fragments. With them, the mind rises above surreal forests or flower gardens, where there is nothing but meditation and a colorful mood as far as the eye can see. Also included are several paintings - puzzles, where different small canvases united in one space, build a common "Solitaire" of shapes, textures and colors. The themes conveyed through Natalia's paintings are quite traditional and generally valid - "Family", "Protection", "Sunset". And as is often the case in life, in the most ordinary things we find everything truly valuable and significant for us. In her paintings, spirituality and self-absorption is palpable - like a sense of flight and air between pulsating strokes of color in "Falling Stars" and "In the Sky". Regardless of the direction of the stylization, the technique and the active and at the same time gentle color, the suggestion of protection and freedom of the spirit flows from each of her works. The exhibition can be seen from June 19 to July 14, 2026 in the exhibition hall of the gallery in Varna, Dragoman Street 12, and also viewed on the website artpapillon.com or fb: Le Papillon Art Gallery.
