4HANDS | Mirror#2 - project by Axel Morel, France | Forum BUNA 4
About this event
For the fourth year in a row, Largo Gallery participates in the BUNA Contemporary Art Forum, which has become an expected Varna tradition. The Forum brings together exhibitions, solo projects, performances, urban interventions, meetings and tours between different galleries, independent spaces and unexpected urban locations. A central place this year is occupied by the former Consulate General of the Russian Federation at 53 "Macedonia" Street, used temporarily as a cultural space, along with the "Boris Georgiev" City Art Gallery, the Largo Gallery, the ReBonkers cultural center and other locations in Varna. On October 3, 2026, at 19:00, Largo Gallery will open a solo exhibition of the French artist Axel Morel, who will present himself at the forum with his project "4HANDS | Mirror#2". Axel Morel is a French artist who explores the boundaries between sculpture and volumetric embroidery. In his unique practice, he combines tradition and innovation. A graduate in fine arts, Morel began his career as a costume designer in Paris, while continuing to explore sculpture in all its forms. He works with various materials, including glass and bronze. What is curious about his work is that it transcends conventional techniques by integrating embroidery into three-dimensional, figurative or abstract structures. This innovative approach leads to the creation of works in which the thread, traditionally associated with the surface, unfolds and rises in space, forming organic and dynamic volumes. At the Largo Gallery, Axel will present the project - "4HANDS | Mirror#2", in which artists from France, Bulgaria and Australia, working with installation, drawing and music - a new community of creative partners. The authors Kiril Buchovski, Julien Jaffre, Nevelin Ivanov, Boryana Petkova and David Chisholm participate in the Axel project. We are waiting for you on October 3 from 19:00 at the Largo Gallery, 8 Han Krum St., Varna, where we will open the exhibition with the participation of the author. Come to an inspiring meeting! --- BUNA vol. 4 / BUNA 4.0 is an international, decentralized forum for contemporary visual art that will take place in Varna from 2 to 31 October 2026, with festival days between 2 and 5 October. The theme of the publication — "Native Resolution (Innate ИНАТ)" — was developed by curator Lachezar Boyadjiev with co-curator Boyana Djikova. The theme of the festival poses the question of what is the relationship between man and sustainable models for the future, considering sustainability not only as an ecological, economic or social concept, but also as a human capacity for recovery. "Innate stubbornness" here means constructive tenacity: the ability of a person or community to return to its inner strength after pressure, trauma, catastrophe, difficulty or failure; to remain active, alive and able to imagine a future.

Art Gallery Largo was founded in Varna on November 27, 2008 by two enthusiasts in love with art — Neli Valcheva and Yordan Petkov. It is a family project developed by its two founders with great love and dedication. The gallery presents contemporary art and works with authors from around the world and from all generations. Our mission is to support the revival of spirituality in Bulgarian society, as art is an innate human need, and through our work we make it accessible.
