ART MARCONI GALLERY Awarded the „Varna“ Prize in 2022. Presents DURING THE EUROPEAN NIGHT OF MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES / 2026 21.05 – 10.06.2026 „TAMING THE SEA“ A painting exhibition by OGNYAN GEORGIEV 18.30, 21.05 /Thursday/ 2026 Varna, 22 Ohrid St., „Art Marconi“ gallery Ognyan Georgiev has known the sea since childhood. He accompanied his father when he went out in his fishing boat. He always feels like part of the sea's rhythm. Although not professionally connected with the sea, Ognyan Georgiev continues to feel its pulse and never fails to synchronize his own pulse with it. He does not perceive it merely as an object of contemplation. The sea is an element with which he manages to find a language of communication. Descending along the crest of the waves with his kayak, he overcomes not only the force of the wind, but his own ordinary fears, the anger provoked by the human errors and shortcomings he encounters daily, the powerlessness not before the forces of nature, but before greed, indifference, negligence. In the water he feels part of another world, where problems are solved with experience, sound judgment and confidence in one's own abilities. There is no falsehood there, the inexperienced cannot survive, connections and patronage have no chance. The water element is a challenge, freedom and responsibility. You must be ready to immerse yourself and become part of it. Rather, the sea tames the artist, because it has become part of him, of his way of existing, of his personal philosophy and morality, as a means of communicating with friends through his art... Nothing is able to break his bond with the sea and his striving to keep trying, to tame it in his paintings. He chooses places people can rarely reach – the deserted beaches near Karadere, which he reaches with his personal kayak, or the steep shores of Kamen Bryag. Ever changing, restless, capricious, fearsome or gentle and generous, the Black Sea has a thousand faces that Ognyan Georgiev will pursue throughout his entire creative life. Each of his exhibitions is a declaration of love for nature. Vanya Markova – „Art Marconi“ gallery
