The Tsarevets Fortress in Veliko Tarnovo was the μεσαιωνικό capital of the Second βουλγαρικό Empire (1185-1393), perched on the hill above the Yantra River. Its restored walls, the Patriarchal Church, and the Sound and Light show make it the most visited landmark in the city.
